Sport for women in Vietnam

This post is to share my sport experience in cost and its effectiveness for woman. Yes, only for woman. Don’t yell at me that men are also busy with job, work, family, not only woman. My reason to write this post for one gender because not many women in the running clubs I knew, not many women swimming in my apartment, rarer women biking on the street in the early morning.

Despite the obvious benefits that sport maintain our health, build the fit body, playing sport likes taking a journey that requires more about mind work. When you are a beginner of running, hope stops you from giving up the slow progress from zero knowledge to run consciously. When you run 5km and still 16km more wait ahead, patience and melody of footstep pounding the ground keep you running. When you are under deadline and delay schedule, time management kept your exercise schedule. When you are lazy, discipline calls you to do some laps. These are just several aspects proved how spirit can be built via sport.

But woman somehow rarely appears doing sport. Some might say to me that yoga or walking is not their sport type. Some might say where the time for sport. Some might even say I do sport, I walk every day, with phone on hand and eyes on phone.

Well, sport is not only yoga or walking. Running in example might sound difficult but in fact, with the right technique everybody can run 5km after 3 months. When I was at school, sport never was my strength. Look back at the time in school, I am not even sure what I have learnt from the sport class. And now, I can do half marathon in 2 hours 45 minutes, swim 1km in 40 minutes.

So, to start any sport, first requirement is Don't afraid of doing sport alone. Friends rarely go side by side in sport. Each has their own interest, capability. Want to try running, let’s investigate the technique, get out there and run.

Next, let go through how much the sport costs, what stuffs a sport woman needs.

Yoga/ Pilates exercise

Fee: total 150-170$ at start time

. Light, thin mat: 50$ (thickness: 3 millimeters, easy traveling with).

. Clothes:

.. Mandatory: long slim fit pant (40$), sport bra & panty (40$), sport tank top (10$), towel.

.. Optional: hair headband.

. Course: 15$/ month

Time: 1hr/day, 3/week

Sport requirement:

Flexible bones for yoga and patience.

1 year training course with trainer to gain enough knowledge how correct the poses are.

After that, you can self-practice at home with a little bit research from internet.

You can try Pilates if you want to focus on few main core areas like back, belly.
Pilates is not about how flexible your bone is but how patient you are in repeating a set of exercises for your targeted main core muscle.

Effectiveness: 6 months can form 2-pack abs

Swim

Fee: 70-170$ at start time

. Clothes: swim bikini (15$), cap (10$)

. Swim Glass: 20$

. Skin moisturizing cream: 25$

. Course: 100$/ 2 months/ Lesson, 7$/ swim ticket/ day

Time: 1hr/day, 3/week

Sport requirement:

When you are at pool, keep swimming, the pool is not your home bathtub. Women can swim 1km in 40 minutes easily with patient practice.

Woman should have long nails if you choose swimming. Be prepared that you will sometimes face a pervert in the swim pool.

 

Effectiveness: 6 practice months can form 2-pack abs

Run

Fee: 150-300$ at start time

. Clothes: slim fit pant (50$), sport bra & panty (40$), running shirt (35$), socks (25$)

. Running hat: 15$

. Running belt kept phone and water: 15$

. Running shoes: 110$

. Thin nylon bag to protect your phone.

Time: 1hr/day, 3/week

Sport requirement:

Be patient.

Time of self-investigating technique because each runner met their own issues which might be different with other runners, listen to your body feeling.

Effectiveness: 6 practice months can form 6 pack abs, fit hand & leg

Bike:

Fee: >=400$ at start time

. Bike: Road bike, Mountain bike, City bike, Tri bike: >= 100$

. Clothes: Bike suit >= 20$, socks >=20$, helmet >= 25$

. Bike shoes and gear: >= 150$

. Bike liquid and bike tool: >= 50$

. Sunglass: 150$

. Hand gloves: 10$

. Light: 5$

. Skin moisturizing cream for bikini part: 5$

. Loud electric horn for any emergency case: 6$

. Strong bike light: 10$

. Course: no fee or lot of fee up to your self-investigation

Time: 1hr/day, 3/week

Sport requirement:

Patience. Have a suitable road, flat, safe, long road >2km/ round.

Effectiveness: Biking is well-known of forming a good-looking lower body.

Wake up early in the morning, around 4:30am to have quiet road. Not much road is flat and long enough to ride, so usually bikers will gather in same road without appointment.

Skateboard: easy to fall off the board and get scar, not woman sport type :))

Rock climbing: shoulder is easily becoming very muscle by this sport, nope, not my type.

Hiking: this one has an amazing view but the hygienic would be a problem.

That’s all about the sport cost and effect I know. If you still feel reluctant about time and cost spent for sport, please bear in mind that the most waste of cost and time is the time and money spent for the hospital treatment.


Wish you lot of luck in finding the sport you like but spare me, housework is not sport.
