Vietnam travel and sport 1 – Swimming

The reason I wrote this post because when I travel, I cannot google or find any information about where to swim. People travel in Vietnam to selfie but not to enjoy the travel in sport way?

Start first with Con Dao’s sea.

I am a 1km – pool - swimmer. Every time I come to Vung Tau, I do not dare to swim in its coast.

However, when arrive Con Dao, it’s surprising me by the soft sand and the pure blue sea in front of Con Dao resort. That was a shiny date and the sea just turn too beautiful at 11:00am to reject its attraction. So, just put on sunbathe cream (Banana Boat, sport type if you concern about the brand), Olive oil and swim!

Even being a Vietnamese, I never swim or dare to introduce about Vietnam specific beach to my foreign swim friend. Almost the time, we swim in a careful – checked spa pool in District 7, HCMC.

When traveling in Con Dao, I did not expect the sea will be that kind of beauty. Luckily, the sea at our resort was amazing. It is not meant that Con Dao’s sea is totally beautiful all over the land. If your tour guide drive you to a small island named Bay Canh to see Coral, don’t expect to swim at their beach coast, lots of died coral there which might hurt or scratch your back, leg. But the ocean near there where tour guide dropped you will be fantastic.

So, Con Dao with the specific beach at Con Dao resort is good to add swimming in your travel activities.

Next, I would like review about Phan Thiet. This beach coast is quite not safe for weak swimmer. The coast depth is not so flat and stable. The wave is too much strong. That’s why the resort with big pool is popular here which we can name some like Sealink, The Cliff. Pick one right with your budget and hit it.

Nha Trang and Da Nang are pretty famous cities in Vietnam about sea and travelling. So, yes their beaches are able to swim. Just remember wear your flotation devices, safety first. Da Nang would be better about their strong policy of keeping the city clean and guard is every where on the beach road. Another bonus of these cities is the developed travel service. Craft beer and snack in these 2 cities are as amazing as Saigon.

Nam Du islands in Kien Giang province are well-known about its beautiful sea but also famous about resort service not developed yet. Therefore, if you are low budget travel type, not too much tough on the resort service, head there.
