Vietnam travel and sport 3 - Race in Vietnam

All of these races have the reasonable race fee, around 10-20$/Vietnamese racer, early bird rate. (Can’t remember foreign racer fee)

Hoi An marathon – 20$/10km/racer

Advantage:

1.       This race gives me the expected view of Hoi An’s ancient town. The street next to Thu Bon River in the early morning is very quiet which is a huge different with its crowded feeling at night. If you plan traveling to this city and combine the tour with sport activities, running around the ancient town is highly suggested. The road is flat and wide in both sides of Thu Bon River.

2.       Breakfast, banana prepared for each racer at Finish line.

3.       The race package includes a Finisher Medal. Every racer loves this one for their BIB and Medal collection.

Disadvantage:

1.       The entire route run through the city where people live is not too beautiful.

2.       Picture of each racer is not fully taken and public on the race’s Facebook. Lots of camera men on the route but can't find my picture =))

3.       The race result is available on web only, cannot print to PDF.

4.       Bank transfer through Visa card or Thailand bank.

Terry Fox – 10$/5km/racer

Advantage:

1.       Well-known event. Lots of racers from well-known running clubs.

2.       Music performance at the event attracts lot of walkers joined the race.

Disadvantage:

1.       Bank transfer not directly on the website.

2.       No finisher medal, only a certificate provided to each racer.

3.       Picture of each racer is not fully taken and public on the race’s Facebook.

4.       The race result is available on web only, cannot print to PDF.

Spring race at District 9 – 15$/10km/racer

Advantage: 

1.       The route around the lake is amazing with tree below and sun rise far above, smoky fog around.

2.       Banana provided at finish line.

3.       Picture is shared and taken for each racer.

4.       The race result is available in PDF.

5.       Bank transferring directly by iBanking service on the Spring race website.

Disadvantage:

1.       No finisher medal. Ya, come appropriately with the race fee, quite low fee.

2.       The rest of the route has just liked running in the village or the jungle. Actually, this district is the suburb, that’s why the road has lot of small rocks and sometimes the road width is just enough for 2 people run through.

HCMC marathon at District 7 – 20$/10km/racer

Advantage:

1.       High bridge, interesting route.

2.       Picture is shared and taken for each racer.

3.       The race package includes a Finisher Medal.

4.       The race result is available on website and PDF also.

5.       Bank transferring directly by iBanking service on the HCMC marathon’s website.

Disadvantage:

1.       On running through the bridge, the width road is not too wide. Some 42km, 21km racers climbed to the car lane for quick run through the 10km racer. At that morning time, lot of trucks drove there, quite dangerous choice to keep pace.
